Michael Curtiz was born in Hungarian in 1886 as Mihaly Kertesz. He graduated from the School for Dramatic Arts in Hungary in 1906. His first acting and directing began in 1912. Curtiz worked in Europe and was a Hungarian soldier in World War I. In all, he made 38 films in Hungary.
Curtiz moved to America in 1926 where he became one of the most successful directors in Hollywood. He died in 1962.
