The 6 Greatest Jimmy Buffett Films

Jimmy Buffett – Son of a son of a sailor

Let me start out by saying that I am a huge Jimmy Buffett fan. I’m not quite a full-blown parrot-head but leaning that way. I have seen him in concert at least six times and own his complete catalog, even the before the beach stuff.  Jimmy Buffett’s music helped me survive three long cold winters in Germany. I would walk around in the snow at night while on guard duty singing “Come Monday” or “He Went to Paris.”  This kept my mind focused on the warmer part of life and living the coastal lifestyle. When I returned from Germany, I attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg as did Jimmy Buffett had done many years before. Of course, Hattiesburg is my hometown as I am not a coast rat.

When I was compiling this list I noticed something odd. Four of the six titles were one word: Hook (1991), Cobb (1994), Congo (1995), and Hoot (2006). The other two titles only had two-word titles. I’m not sure what that means. Is there code here?

I have to do one disclaimer. Jimmy Buffett is a good man and works diligently to protect the environment. I panned Hoot (2006) not because the message was wrong. Only the delivery was wrong.

This list of movies is done as a tribute to Mr. Buffet. I have always loved his music and the images it invokes. This music will continue to be important to me. I am personally glad that Jimmy Buffet is out there singing and protecting the environment. I am waiting for him to run for governor of Florida but he will have to move back down here first.

I hope you enjoy this list, which by the way, contains all of the movies that Jimmy Buffett has appeared in. I look forward to hearing your comments.

  1. Hello, I came across your post by attempting to find some meaning behind the fact that four of the movies Jimmy Buffett appeared in had only one word in the title. I was wondering if anybody else has ever given you any suggestions to some meaning behind it or if you’ve come to think it is just sheer coincidence. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear back from you, Annie

    1. Annie,

I don’t know why this is. It is just something I noticed. I’m a big Jimmy Buffet fan. Maybe it’s a southern thing (LOL).
