Top 25 Shakespeare Movies

Below is my Top 25 Shakespeare Movies list. Willaim Shakespeare was born in 1564 and died in 1616 at the age of 52. During that time he was an actor and playwright. He wrote some of the finest plays in the English language. It is estimated that Shakespeare added about 1,700 words to the English language.

On the Top 25 Shakespeare Movies list are three groups. The first group is Shakespeare plays that were made into movies using his words and set in the correct time period, such as Henry V (1989). Secondly, there are movies that follow Shakespeare’s words and are set in another place or time like Ran (1985). The final group, are Shakespeare inspired movies, like Forbidden Planet (1956) or McLintock! (1963).
